Hospital-based practice with collaborative physician and Advanced Practice Provider team model
Adult and geriatric patient population
7 days on / 7 days off schedule, or as otherwise specified by site needs
Procedures not required
Collaborative interdisciplinary support including physicians, nursing staff, case management, consulting services, and administrative support staff
Opportunity to participate in education and mentorship with APP students and APP fellows
Centralized professional support through the Center for Advanced Practice

Opportunity to join and support a growing Hospital Medicine program within a newly integrated Advocate Health partner location
Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for hospitalized adult patients
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in the inpatient setting
Develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
Order, interpret, and monitor laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic testing
Monitor patient progress and respond appropriately to changes in clinical condition
Prescribe and adjust medications in accordance with North Carolina regulations and DEA guidelines
Collaborate closely with hospitalists, nursing staff, consulting physicians, care management, and ancillary teams to coordinate care
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning
Facilitate communication with primary care providers and patient families regarding ongoing care needs
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts
Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational standards
Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required
Current North Carolina license or eligibility required
Current prescriptive authority and DEA licensure required
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Acute Care certification required for Nurse Practitioner candidates
Minimum of 1–2 years of inpatient, hospital medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, or related acute care experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills required
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and collaborative hospital environment
Master’s Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice required
Acute Care certification required
Current RN and APRN licensure required
Certification from a nationally recognized certifying body required
ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC certification preferred depending on population served
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required
Master’s Degree preferred
NCCPA certification preferred
