The APP - NP or PA, will play a key role in caring for children and adolescents admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit and supporting patients on medical units with behavioral health needs. This position emphasizes team-based care, working closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, counselors, and support staff to ensure holistic treatment.

Major Responsibilities:

•Assess, diagnose, and manage treatment plans for pediatric patients with psychiatric conditions.

•Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies; prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.

•Provide health promotion, disease prevention, and counseling for patients and families.

•Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members; escalate care when necessary.

•Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure compliant coding and billing.

•Facilitate clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and community agencies.

•Perform hospital-based procedures within granted privileges and competency.

Additional Responsibilities:

•Participate in family therapy sessions and care conferences.

•Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.

•Support onboarding and education of new team members and students.

•Maintain clinical proficiency and professional development.

•Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for pediatric populations.

Licensure/Certification:

•Active RN and APRN/APRN-FPA/APNP or PA license in state of practice

•National board certification in clinical area and population served

•DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License (prior to hire)

•BLS and PALS certification (within 6 months of hire)

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies

Experience: New graduates welcome

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Strong clinical decision-making and organizational skills

•Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

•Proficiency with electronic medical records

•Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Physical Requirements:

•Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the day

•Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; 20 lbs overhead; carry up to 40 lbs

•Functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing
