Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Job Details
Position: Locum Tenens Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Location: Brockton, MA (02301) – Greater Boston Area
Healthcare Setting: Inpatient psychiatric unit at a modern 112-bed behavioral health facility
Assignment Length: 4 weeks to start, with potential extension for 4-8 additional weeks
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm (8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week)
Patient Volume: 12-14 psychiatric patients per day
Start Date: March 2, 2026
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Qualifications
Active Massachusetts nurse practitioner license (or eligibility to obtain) and controlled substance license
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
Minimum 2 years of recent experience in inpatient psychiatry or behavioral health
Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations, including those affected by homelessness and substance use disorders
Inclusive, patient-centered approach to mental health care
Strong commitment to clinical excellence and evidence-based practice
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients
Prescribe psychiatric medications and provide psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
Deliver independent care or collaborate with supervising physicians as required
Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention when necessary
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation for all patient encounters
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists
Coordinate care with case managers, family members, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal patient outcomes
