The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner evaluates and treats inmates, detainees, or residents with psychiatric or behavioral health disorders within a correctional or community reentry setting. The role involves medication management, psychiatric assessments, emergency care, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive mental health services. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing nursing staff providing mental health care.
Responsibilities
•Evaluate patients referred for assessment due to behavioral health symptoms.
•Provide medication management and adjust medications as necessary based on clinical judgment.
•Refer patients for psychotherapy, counseling, or inpatient care when appropriate.
•Conduct suicide risk assessments and provide emergency psychiatric care as needed.
•Consult with psychiatrists and receive clinical supervision in accordance with licensing requirements.
•Collaborate with mental health team members to coordinate patient care.
•Schedule follow-up appointments consistent with policy and patient needs.
•Document all services provided in the patient's medical record.
Compensation
•Salary of USD 134,992.00 per year (W-2).

Requirements
•Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
•Unrestricted license to practice as an APRN-PMH in the state of employment.
•ANCC or ANA certification as an APRN-PMH.
•Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a psychiatric provider.
•Valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license.
•Ability to work with electronic health records and necessary software.
•Ability to pass background checks and complete credentialing prior to patient care.
•Professional license must be maintained on file at the facility.
•Ability to perform assessments, prescribe medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
•Strong documentation skills and ability to provide in-service education as needed.
