About the position
To provide compassionate and culturally sensitive psychiatric care as a Nurse Practitioner at OpSam Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the diverse communities of San Diego County. Collaborating within an interdisciplinary team, the aim is to address the mental health needs of underserved populations, ensuring access to high-quality psychiatric services regardless of financial resources or background, thereby promoting holistic well-being and equitable healthcare outcomes.
Responsibilities
โขConduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess patients' mental health status.
โขDevelop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
โขPrescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as appropriate, in accordance with state regulations.
โขProvide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding treatment options, medications, and coping strategies.
โขWork collaboratively with therapists and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
โขCommunicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
โขStay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine, attending relevant conferences, and pursuing continuing education opportunities.
โขDocument and complete patient progress notes in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
โขUnrestricted License with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC) in the State of California is required.
โขMaster's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution is required.
โขPsychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) certification is required.
โขActive DEA License is required.
โขMinimum of two (2) years' experience preferred.
