About the position
To provide compassionate and culturally sensitive psychiatric care as a Nurse Practitioner at OpSam Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the diverse communities of San Diego County. Collaborating within an interdisciplinary team, the aim is to address the mental health needs of underserved populations, ensuring access to high-quality psychiatric services regardless of financial resources or background, thereby promoting holistic well-being and equitable healthcare outcomes.
Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess patients' mental health status.
•Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
•Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as appropriate, in accordance with state regulations.
•Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding treatment options, medications, and coping strategies.
•Work collaboratively with therapists and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
•Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
•Stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine, attending relevant conferences, and pursuing continuing education opportunities.
•Document and complete patient progress notes in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
•Unrestricted License with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC) in the State of California is required.
•Master's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution is required.
•Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) certification is required.
•Active DEA License is required.
•Minimum of two (2) years' experience preferred.
