Position Overview
The Part-Time APN provides psychiatric services including evaluations, medication management, and clinical consultation to clients participating in Phoenix Behavioral Health programs. The APN functions as the on-site psychiatric provider during scheduled hours and supports the treatment team in maintaining client stability and participation in programming.
This role is integrated into daily program operations and includes collaboration with therapists and case managers, same-day client needs, and clinical decision-making regarding level of care.
Active national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is required. Applicants who are not board certified are not eligible.

•Utilize the NJ Prescription Monitoring Program (PDMP)
Program Support
•Provide consultation to therapists and case managers
•Assist with symptomatic or disruptive clients
•Evaluate clients who are decompensating
•Help determine appropriate level of care
•Support return to programming after hospitalization
•Provide same-day assessments when clinically necessary during scheduled shift
Crisis & Intake Support
•Complete psychiatric intakes as scheduled
•Assess suicide and safety risk
•Provide crisis evaluations within the program
•Assist with hospitalization decisions when needed
•Prioritize recently discharged clients
Documentation & Compliance
•Complete evaluations and follow-ups within agency timeframes
•Document medication consent and education
•Maintain compliant EHR documentation
•Review and sign treatment plans when required
•Follow all:
•NJ Board of Nursing regulations
•Controlled substance prescribing laws
•Joint Commission standards
•HIPAA requirements
•Phoenix Behavioral Health policies
•Minimum Qualifications (Required)
•Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the State of New Jersey
•Active national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
•Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing
•Active CDS and DEA registration
•Eligible for insurance credentialing
Credentialing Requirement
Board certification must remain active at all times. A lapse in certification will result in immediate removal from the clinical schedule and may result in termination due to inability to perform the essential functions of the role.

•Co-occurring disorders

•Multidisciplinary treatment team settings
Performance Expectations
The Part-Time APN is expected to:
•Maintain a consistent weekly schedule
•Complete documentation within required timeframes
•Support clinical staff with medication-related concerns
•Provide reliable psychiatric coverage for the program
•Function as an active member of the treatment team
