Texas A&M University Health Science Center is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner II, Psychiatry, to provide essential mental health care in Crockett, TX. This role involves conducting clinical assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and crisis intervention for patients with mental health needs. The successful candidate will manage medication regimens and may contribute to the education of graduate or undergraduate students, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

•Job Location: Crockett, Texas

•Works closely with the Integrated Behavioral Health unit

•May serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students

•May conduct scholarly presentations to clinic staff and participate in educational activities for staff, students and trainees of other disciplines

•Position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding

Responsibilities

•Engage in clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations, and provide crisis intervention for patients with mental health care needs.

•Prescribe and monitor medications, and monitor patients to ensure adherence to treatment plans.

•Assume responsibility for difficult and complex patients based on experience or area of expertise.

•Complete accurate and appropriate documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical records system in a timely manner.

•Engage in counseling/clinical-related activities and work closely with the Integrated Behavioral Health unit.

•Consult with other providers regarding patients' psychiatric medications and treatment plans to ensure appropriateness and coordination of care.

•Serve as an internal resource for staff and medical providers regarding psychiatric-mental health care questions.

•May serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students, and participate in educational activities for staff, students and trainees of other disciplines.

Compensation

•Proposed Minimum Salary: Commensurate

•Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire's education and experience

Requirements

•Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent level of education and experience that qualifies the applicant to hold a Nurse Practitioner License in Texas.

•2 years of related experience.

•Texas Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licenses with prescriptive authority in Texas.

•Board certified in mental health.

•DEA registration.

•BLS certification.

•All licensure/certification must be maintained for continued employment.

•Prior experience in MAT (preferred).

•Bilingual (preferred).
