Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Department: Specialty Mental Health
Location: Baywell, Bay Area, California
Position Type: Part-Time (0.4 FTE)
Salary Range: 70000 to 120000 annually, depending on experience and licensure. Prorated by on FTE %
Overview
You will provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management for patients receiving Specialty Mental Health services. You will deliver patient-centered care that meets all California regulatory and clinical standards. You will collaborate with licensed psychiatrists, therapists, and care teams to improve access, quality, and continuity of care.
What you’ll do
● Dispense medication as necessary PO, Injection, and document Medication Safety
● Develop and document evidence-based treatment plans.
● Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications safely and effectively.
● Coordinate care with other medical and behavioral health providers.
● Review labs, screenings, and vital signs as part of medication management.
● Ensure documentation meets all California Board of Nursing and HRSA standards.

● Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and case conferencing.
● Provide crisis intervention, consultation, and patient education.
● Use the Epic electronic health record to track progress and outcomes.
● Maintain timely completion of all charting and billing documentation.
● Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
● Engage in continuing education to meet state licensing and DEA renewal standards
Qualifications
● Active California Nurse Practitioner license.
○ Level 103
○ Level 104
● Current DEA registration with Schedule II-V authority.
● Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
● Current BLS or ACLS certification.
● Minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health practice.
● Knowledge of the California scope of practice laws for NPs.
● Ability to manage caseload independently within a team model.
● Skill in working with diverse populations, including Medi-Cal and uninsured patients.
● EPIC experience is a plus
Work Environment
● Outpatient community health center.
● Collaborative interdisciplinary setting.
● Compliance with California workplace safety, infection control, and reporting standards.
● A limited hybrid work schedule is possible with telehealth options when approved.
Compensation and Benefits
● Annual pay between 70,000 and 120000 pro-rated for part-time.
Compliance and Licensing Requirements
● Maintain all active licenses and certifications required by the State of California.
● Complete mandatory training on controlled substances, patient safety, and cultural competence.
● Follow Title 22, California Health and Safety Code, and DHCS regulations.
● Comply with all Baywell Health policies and procedures related to clinical practice.
Reports To: Director of Mental Health
Supervision Received: General supervision with access to psychiatric consultation and case review.
