ROLE: Seeking an PMHNP-BC for a 3 day a week role to join a well run, comfortably-paced, non-profit outpatient clinic serving a severe and mentally ill population (SMI) with co-occuring Dual Diagnosis disorders. You will predominantly focus on helping patients succeed with their SMI goals, while the substance councillors and additional program staff support the remainder of your patients' psychosocial needs.
Experience a high level of nurse support for each of your visits, as well as a high level of wrap around staffing, which together maximize successful treatment and a safe workplace. Participate in a daily multidisciplinary team meetings to help shape biopsychosocial treatment plans and lead your patients to stability & wellbeing.
TEAM: The onsite team involves wrap around staffing including addiction therapists, case managers and nurses to maximize successful treatment and a safe workplace. Off-site physician supervisors & NP leadership support team are locally renowned.
LOCATION: All work is in-person, predominantly based at the Escondido clinic at the present time. Up to 10% percent of hours include the opportunity for field visits to patients in the community. Most such field visits are at a residential facility a couple blocks away, an occasional mid-day drive as far as downtown San Diego may be required.
REQUIREMENTS: Unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner License and Furnishing number required prior to applying. 24 month full-time equivalent period of paid PMHNP care to an SMI population required, 5 years experience preferred. Significant experience managing refractory and unstable severely mentally ill clients required. No family nurse practitioners or Physician Assistants (PA). No J1 visa candidates.
SCHEDULE: Start Date: before March 1, 2026. Your daily schedule will include a morning team meeting as well as protected charting time. 6 hours of patient visits are scheduled daily, ~10 scheduled patients divided as 90 minute intakes and 30 minutes follow up visits (less visits scheduled on days in the field). 8 hour days.
COMPENSATION: Based on a $205,000 - $218,000 / year + up to $20,000 productivity bonus + 5.2 week PTO rate. This part time 60% role includes prorated compensation & PTO, without benefits. SMA offers excellent benefits for those who expand with us to an 80% role in the future. This role is Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible.
