We are seeking a committed professional to fill a part-time (1 day a week) Psychiatric Service Provider position supporting our mission and services. This role plays a vital part in delivering quality outcomes and serving our community.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing direct psychiatric services within the scope of practice of a licensed Psychiatrist (MD/DO) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), primarily to children and adolescents. Services include psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment planning, as well as conducting primary care and health screenings as clinically indicated. Services are delivered across multiple Greater Reach CSB clinic locations, which are subject to change. The position also provides clinical and medical consultation to agency staff and ensures timely, accurate documentation of all services in accordance with DBHDS regulations, CSB policy, and Medicaid requirements.
Required Education and Experience
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy with a completion of an approved residency in psychiatry.
Or
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with completion of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program with Autonomous Practice designation.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) and current board certification or board eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
If holding a Nursing Degree, must have current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required as well as a current national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Must possess and maintain prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia and active DEA registration.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Minimum of five (5) years position related experience in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Valid Driver’s License with a point balance of -6 or higher.
Preferred
Eight (8) years position related experience in community mental health with persons with serious and persistent mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
Knowledge of principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry, psychiatric illness and wellness of different diagnoses.
Participating on multi-disciplinary teams, substance use assessment and interventions and how they impact treatment of persons with serious behavioral health concerns
Prescribing the latest in new psychotropic medication as appropriate.
Skills in psychiatric diagnosis (via assessment & evaluation), treatment, ordering and interpreting labs, consultation and collaboration with other mental health professionals.
Excellent basic computer skills required. Must have experience and be proficient with the use of an EHR.
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.
