Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive mental health services across diverse patient populations, including outpatient, inpatient, and specialized care settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, including experience with behavioral health, psychopharmacology, and working with individuals with complex psychiatric and medical needs. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The position involves collaboration with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic patient-centered care in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages, including children, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
•Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor medication efficacy, and adjust treatments as necessary.
•Provide psychotherapy interventions and behavioral health counseling tailored to patient needs.
•Perform clinical procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, venipuncture, catheter care, spinal taps, and dermal fillers when appropriate.
•Manage acute pain cases and assist in pain management strategies utilizing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic approaches.
•Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks for documentation of patient care activities while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
•Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment across settings such as assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
•Engage in telehealth services providing remote psychiatric evaluations and follow-up consultations.
•Participate in clinical research projects related to behavioral health or pharmacology when applicable.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding for billing purposes, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, and utilization review processes.
Requirements
•Valid Nurse Practitioner license with specialization in Psychiatry or Behavioral Health.
•Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
•Demonstrated experience working within hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers; ICU or PICU experience is advantageous.
•Proven competence in managing complex psychiatric cases involving acute care, emergency medicine, or urgent care environments.
•Experience with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (pediatric care), geriatrics (memory care), hospice & palliative medicine, or neonatal units is highly desirable.
•Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks for medical documentation and patient management.
•Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to mental health conditions; familiarity with psychopharmacology is essential.
•Ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations accurately while adhering to infection control protocols.
•Excellent communication skills for patient education on topics such as family planning or nutrition; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is a plus.
•Must be comfortable working in outpatient clinics or inpatient hospital environments providing acute care or sub-acute care services. Pay: $56.88 - $68.51 per hour
