Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health RN performs the initial intake process by performing the screening and triage assessments within a healthcare setting. The Behavioral Health RN develops day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends and families. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious belief.
Job Responsibilities:
•The Behavioral Health RN engage clients and/or family members to conduct clinical assessments/intake to determine the level and/or type of care client may require
•The Behavioral Health RN obtains background information from client as part of the intake assessment.
•The Behavioral Health RN works with the Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner to refer patients as necessary.
•The Behavioral Health RN demonstrates flexibility in job duties
•The Behavioral Health RN attends and participates in huddle meetings
•The Behavioral Health RN must be available to work extended hours as needed
•The Behavioral Health RN addresses staff needs and shortages appropriately.
•The Behavioral Health RN initiates, coordinates, and enforces organizational, operational and personnel policies and procedures
•The Behavioral Health RN assists with orienting and training nursing staff
•The Behavioral Health RN responds to calls according to SeMRHI policy
•The Behavioral Health RN effectively communicates with patients and families
•The Behavioral Health RN maintains safe and clean working environment
•The Behavioral Health RN ensures operation of medical equipment, reports, malfunctions, and call in repairs as needed
•The Behavioral Health RN maintains clinic supplies by anticipating needs by ordering and maintaining availability of supplies
•The Behavioral Health RN consistently strives to maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams
•The Behavioral Health RN must be able to give guidance and directions in stressful situations
•The Behavioral Health RN demonstrates a caring and compassionate attitude toward patients and staff
•The Behavioral Health RN adequately communicates with providers
•The Behavioral Health RN effectively monitor patient needs and satisfy patient complaints
•The Behavioral Health RN is knowledgeable in operating center equipment.
•The Behavioral Health RN is knowledgeable in the use of the computer to check patient appointments, enter pertinent information and/or schedule appointments
•The Behavioral Health RN appropriately adhere to OSHA protocols and is familiar with the Material Safety Management Book
•The Behavioral Health RN appropriately maintain patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential
•The Behavioral Health RN appropriately establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families
•The Behavioral Health RN appropriately maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, staff meetings, reviewing professional publications, etc.
•The Behavioral Health RN maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by, getting along well with others, communicate effectively, respond to request, build rapport and participate in team problem-solving methods
•The Behavioral Health RN appropriately documents in the EMR and is able to access information in the EMR
•Maintains prompt and regular attendance
•Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
•Performs related work, as assigned
•Must be flexible and willing to float to other clinic locations as needed to support operational needs, ensure adequate coverage, and maintain quality patient care
•Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
Job Requirements:
•Must be a Registered Nurse with a current license in the State of Mississippi
•Minimum of two years clinical work experience
•Intake assessment experience required.
•Must possess a RN licensure and current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
Physical and Other Requirements:
•Must continuously listen, visualize, and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
•Ability for simple grasping and speed work
•Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk and climb stairs
•Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 10 lbs.
