Job Title: Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Employment Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Program: Residential and Outpatient Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Services

Reports To: Chief Medical Officer

FLSA Status: Exempt

The Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, integrated medical and psychiatric care for individuals involved in residential and outpatient substance use disorder and mental health services. Collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team, the NP conducts thorough assessments, prescribes and manages medications, and provides support in a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed manner, in line with our nonprofit mission that emphasizes kindness, honesty, and respect.

This position is essential for ensuring continuous care across different service levels and for maintaining a safe, ethical, and compassionate treatment atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Care

•Perform comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations for clients in both residential and outpatient settings.

•Diagnose and treat mental health and substance use disorders within the approved scope of practice.

•Prescribe, monitor, and modify psychotropic and other necessary medications.

•Deliver Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine, naltrexone, and related services.

•Oversee withdrawal management, medication side effects, and overall client well-being.

•Collaborate closely with nursing, counseling, and medical staff to ensure cohesive care plans.

Care Coordination & Collaboration

•Participate actively in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.

•Maintain effective communication with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and leadership.

•Coordinate care with external providers, hospitals, pharmacies, and referral sources as necessary.

•Assist in discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.

Documentation & Compliance

•Keep timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

•Ensure services meet federal, state, and licensing requirements.

•Adhere to HIPAA regulations, confidentiality protocols, and organizational policies.

•Engage in quality improvement and clinical audits as requested.

Professional Responsibilities

•Maintain active licensure, certifications, and required continuing education.

•Provide clinical consultation and education to staff when appropriate.

•Uphold ethical standards and best practices in behavioral healthcare.

•Foster a respectful, inclusive, and recovery-oriented treatment environment.

Required Qualifications

•Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.

•Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

•Prescriptive authority and DEA registration (or ability to obtain).

•A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, primary care, or a related field.

•Strong understanding of psychopharmacology and integrated care models.

Preferred Qualifications

•Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.

•Experience in residential substance use disorder treatment settings.

•MAT certification and practical experience.

•Background in nonprofit or community-based healthcare settings.

•Familiarity with trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.

Work Schedule & Environment

•Full-time position, 40 hours per week.

•Schedule may include occasional evenings or flexibility based on program needs.

•Work performed in residential and outpatient clinical settings.
