The outpatient Psychiatric ARNP is responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in Sea Mar’s outpatient Behavioral Health sites and in Sea Mar’s medical clinics. The clients served in the Behavioral Health Program have access to counseling and case management services, in addition to the psychiatric services provided by the Psychiatric ARNP. The clients seen at the medical clinics by the Psychiatric ARNP will be seen for evaluation and medication follow-up. The Psychiatric ARNP does not provide counseling services.
The Psychiatric ARNP is part of a care team working to provide quality comprehensive services to Sea Mar patients. The Psychiatric ARNP will work collaboratively with staff to provide team-based coordinated care.
Face to face psychiatric evaluations with client/patients to determine psychiatric diagnosis.
Ongoing medication review services to assess the effects of prescribed medication.
Consultation with Behavioral Health clinical staff and Sea Mar medical clinic providers to review cases and provide recommendations about diagnosis, medications, and other treatment considerations.
Phone availability for emergency review of medications and their effects, or for refilling prescriptions. Phone consultation with Sea Mar physicians so that they can prescribe initial medications until such time as clients can been seen for a face to face for psychiatric/medication review and possible entry into mental health services.

Chart documentation to include written notes of psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and any other client contacts. The Psychiatric ARNP will maintain a Psychiatric Medication Chart, make copies of all prescriptions, and obtain all necessary medication consent signatures from each client.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
Able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients.
This person must sign an oath of permanent confidentiality covering all patient related information.
This person must receive a background check from DSHS and Washington State Patrol.
This person must comply with all ethical standards of Sea Mar and those required by DOH (Washington State Department of Health).
The person in this position shall have no history or evidence of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three (3) years immediately prior to the date of employment at the facility, and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed at this center.
The Behavioral Health Director shall sign and date the job description to affirm the validity of the information herein.

VII. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Experience RN. Licensed in the State of Washington. Must be licensed as a psychiatric nurse (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) with more than five years of experience providing psychiatric services.
Must be bi-cultural. Knowledge and experience working with Hispanics, migrant and seasonal farm workers and homeless individuals preferred. Interest and flexibility in a variety of person care situations: family care, youth, and adult.
Must be bilingual Spanish/English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak efficiently before client or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MHP, prefer certification as minority Mental Health Specialist as prescribed by WAC, must have and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification, TB test annually.
