The Nurse Practitioner performs direct psychiatric care in a medical office setting under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist. This role involves obtaining medical histories, performing medical evaluations, treating psychiatric problems, maintaining records, and providing health education. The successful candidate will focus on patients with behavioral/mental health conditions, establishing therapeutic relationships and integrating psychiatric expertise into their overall medical management.

Responsibilities
•Establish therapeutic relationships with patients to integrate psychiatric expertise into medical management plans
•Provide all aspects of patient psychiatric healthcare, including diagnosis and treatment of various psychiatric and common medical conditions
•Diagnose and support the management of comorbidities and complications common to patients with behavioral/mental health conditions
•Provide direct psychiatric services through initial comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including prescribing and administering medications
•Prescribe and monitor behavioral health medications
•Handle psychiatric emergencies as needed
•Communicate with the patient's primary care provider regarding changes in conditions or potential medication changes
•Collaborate with supervising physician regarding complex behavioral/mental conditions, including regular communication, care plan development, and medication management

Requirements
•Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executive management, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, support staff, other departments, and patients/families
•Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handling multiple/challenging priorities
•Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to various aspects of patient care
•Good clinical judgment
•Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in applying acceptable standards of practice
•Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program
•Currently approved by joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts
•Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state
•Experience in counseling and teaching is preferable
•Master's degree is preferable
•Minimum of one year's experience in related nursing positions is preferred
