The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) for a full-time, limited-term position at Kern Valley State Prison. This vital role involves providing primary mental health clinical assessment and treatment services to incarcerated patients within the Mental Health Services Delivery System. The PNP will collaborate with the Chief Psychiatrist and work as a key member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, contributing to comprehensive patient care.

•Clinical services may be provided in program areas or units serving incarcerated patients, including the Short Term Restricted Housing Unit, Enhanced Outpatient Program (GP), Correctional Treatment Center, or programs serving CCCMS (Correctional Clinical Case Management Services) patients

Responsibilities
•Provide primary mental health clinical assessment and treatment services, in accordance with established standardized procedures, to the incarcerated who are patients in the Mental Health Services Delivery System
•Participate in the psychiatry on call schedule
•Work as a treatment team member with members of other clinical disciplines in the development and implementation of a total treatment plan
Compensation
•NURSE PRACTITIONER, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY $13,043 - $14,745 per month
•New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable
•Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027.

•Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base.
•Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Shift & Schedule
•12 Month Limited Term - Full Time
•The PNP will participate in the psychiatry on call schedule
Requirements
•NURSE PRACTITIONER, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY classification
•Possession of a current license as a registered nurse in California
•Possession of a current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the Board of Registered Nurses
•Applicants who completed their education outside of the US must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency
•Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter
•Meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s)
•Must take and pass the CalCareers examination to obtain list eligibility for the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, CF
