The Inpatient Psychiatry Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership and mastery of practice in delivering efficient, comprehensive, and continuous patient-driven holistic care through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of resources. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties Include but not limited to: Provides care and counseling of people or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process. Includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems. Involves services such as case finding, health teaching, health counseling. Executes medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider. Demonstrates leadership and mastery of practice in delivering efficient, comprehensive, and continuous patient-driven holistic care through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of resources. Consider all characteristics of the individual to assist each patient with the improvement of his/her health status to the maximum potential. Compiles Equal Employment Opportunity programs, partnerships, customer service standards, and Veterans Affairs policies and procedures. Ensures subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice, accreditation, and regulatory standards. Responsible for sound fiscal and human resource management, effective management of administrative and clinical issues, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient and employee safety, and employee relations. Establishes priorities for unit-based quality/performance improvement activities, while promoting evidence-based practices. Evaluates, redesigns, and implements unit-based/facility-wide/health service policies and protocols as applicable. Actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as a means of providing high-quality, cost-effective, and customer-focused health care. Coaches staff effectively manages employee conduct and performance issues. Participates in service and medical center committees and task forces to improve nursing standards of practice and patient care. Identifies educational needs for staff and ensures these needs are aptly addressed. Supports and facilitates student nurse clinical experiences and orients new Nurse Managers. Cross-covers for other nurse managers and/or supervisors as designated when needed. Responsible for the Inpatient Psychiatry nursing staff of his/her designated unit(s)/clinic(s) and collaborates with other nurse managers to identify and share resources. Maintains and provides continuous accreditation readiness of his/her units. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Influences outcomes of care by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design.. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to professional development. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and partners with others to effect change and improve outcomes. Evaluates and measures outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday Through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm - Tour of duty to be determined by supervisor.
