The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking compassionate and committed individuals to join our team as a Training Specialist at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Omaha. These professionals provide essential training to teammates that support male youth. This vital role directly supports our mission of Helping People Live Better Lives.

State of Nebraska is hiring for this PMHNP position. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners play a critical role in addressing the growing demand for mental health services across the United States. This employer is actively seeking qualified candidates to join their team.
Utilize best practices to provide adult learning opportunities for a wide variety of subject areas
•Serve as professional resource for employees and managers regarding classes/programs taught
•May train other agency employees to present courses similar to those presented
•Research, develop, and schedule new adult learning courses to meet identified agency objectives.
•Plan and deliver interactive and engaging coursework materials and training in a classroom, web-based or e-learning environment.
•Modify existing course curriculums based on changes in legislation, federal regulations, agency regulations, court decisions, practice changes, regulatory/accreditation standards, or program assessment.
•Conduct formal training assessments to determine effectiveness of presented learning opportunities and to identify agency program or operational needs to be addressed by developing new learning programs.
•Assess and track individual staff participation, behavior, learning achievement and competency demonstration to determine the need for mentoring, adjustment to learning format, remedial training, or discipline.
•Coordinate with other instructors for the delivery of courses and monitoring of performance.
•Manage logistics associated with hosting a learning event (room, tables, chairs, equipment)
•Consult and communicate with supervisors, managers and administrators concerning agency training, programmatic or service needs.
•Assess competencies of employees to determine courses or segments of training which must be attended.
•Generate reports and provide required certification to trainees upon demonstration of required skills and competencies.
•Maintain inventory of educational materials, supplies and equipment
Work Schedule: The training schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The full-time work schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Wage: $22.007/hour, additional $3/hour facility differential pay when working
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years’ experience and/or training in planning and presenting information and/or education to others through formal training, workshops, seminars, or other instructional venues including experience developing training programs or curriculum. Associates’ degree in education, human resources, organization communication, training and development or related field may be substituted for experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience planning and/or conducting training in a facility or healthcare setting.
•Experience working with youth
•Experience planning and/or conducting New Employee Orientation training
Other: Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation for work-related travel.
Work Environment & Expectations
•The Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Omaha will be opening in mid-late 2026. This program was established to provide services to male youth and offers evidence-based cognitive behavioral, skill-building and substance abuse programming, including:
•Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
•Aggression Replacement Training (ART)
•Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA)
•Lion Heart's Power Source Program
•Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
•Additional groups include youth feedback and team building.
•Individual therapy is also offered to youth with behavioral, mental health, and substance abuse needs. Therapists use an integrated care model to address co-occurring issues.
•Youth who have the need will receive management for psychotropic medications through a contracted Adolescent Psychiatrist or a Psychiatric APRN.
•Case Managers and therapists work together to develop case plans with outcomes determined by each youth's risks and needs. Other assessments are used to determine treatment needs.
•Youth can earn incentives and privileges based on positive behavior. Incentives can include group outings, special treats, or other fun on-campus or off-campus activities.
•Youth may also participate in community service projects, based on positive behaviors, and earned privileges.
