This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse-Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to practice to the full extent of their education, training and certification as a licensed independent practitioner to provide healthcare to individuals, families, and/or groups in a variety of settings to include virtual modalities. Primary Care Core Clinical Privileges will guide advanced practice beyond basic education and are renewed every two years. The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position. The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients. Duties may include but are not limited to: Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members. Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. Provides timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts. Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits. Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services. Provides education to patients and their families. Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Consults other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements. Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. NP may have other duties as assigned.
