5. Completes follow up medical appointments and supports the physicians/medical director in most areas outside of dosing determinations for methadone. All initial methadone orders and dose change orders supervised by the physician.
6. Provides education to patients on the risks and benefits of opiate treatment and medical issues surrounding the use of methadone.
7. Follows the guidelines for the safety and treatment of high-risk patients (e.g., pregnant women, patients with HIV, and IV drug users).
8. Coordinates care with clinical staff and other medical providers.
9. Assists patients in referral services for other medical issues (co-occurring illnesses) and other medical needs.
10. Continuous quality improvement (participation at in-service education and patient education).
11. Ensures medication orders comply with State/DEA Regulations and HIPAA/CARF Standards.
Education, License/Certifications and Experience
- Current, Active Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the State of Colorado
- 1 year experience as Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant in medication assisted treatment in an opiate treatment setting.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- CPR certified within 3 months of hire for Nurse Practitioner.
- Current DEA License.
- Knowledge of Opioid Treatment and Medication, ASAM Criteria.
- Judgment: Uses good clinical judgment in resolving medical issues related to opioid treatment and medication.
- Communication: Able to express ideas concisely and logically to ensure patient management, care, coordination, and safety.
