Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dedicated mental health care team. Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments utilizing clinical research and medical terminology.
•Develop and implement personalized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, behavioral health strategies, and therapy options such as counseling or group sessions.
•Administer medications responsibly, including injections and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate, adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical guidelines.
•Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams across settings such as assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), and outpatient clinics.
•Manage patient records accurately using EMR systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks; document medical records, medication administration, vital signs, and clinical notes in compliance with NCQA standards.
•Provide triage services for urgent mental health concerns via telehealth or in-person visits; assist with discharge planning and case management for post-acute care patients.
•Stay current with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding practices for billing purposes; participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection control, utilization review, and hospital medicine.
Skills
•Proven experience with Epic EMR systems or similar EHR platforms such as Cerner or athenahealth.
•Strong background in behavioral health, including managing patients with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, or memory care needs.
•Expertise in medication management involving psychopharmacology, including the administration of injections and IV infusions.
•Knowledge of acute pain management techniques and procedures like spinal taps or catheterization.
•Familiarity with diverse clinical environments such as emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, geriatrics, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), and neonatal intensive care units (NICU).
•Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and sterile techniques like suturing or dermal fillers.
•Experience working with special populations such as children, seniors requiring hospice & palliative medicine or memory care patients; working with people with developmental disabilities or disabilities is a plus.
•Competence in utilizing CPT coding for billing procedures; understanding of workers' compensation law is advantageous.
