Focus: Comprehensive Mental Health Screenings & Interventional Psychiatry (Ketamine Therapy)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) for a specialized contract role. This position focuses on providing high-touch, in-house mental health care, with a specific emphasis on evaluating and managing patients for Ketamine-Assisted Treatment alongside traditional medication management.
The ideal candidate will manage a dedicated caseload, performing the dual role of a psychiatric evaluator and a medical gatekeeper for interventional treatments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Screenings & Assessment
• Conduct comprehensive in-house mental health screenings to determine patient eligibility for various treatment modalities.
• Perform diagnostic psychiatric evaluations (biopsychosocial assessments) for new and existing patients.
• Utilize standardized tools (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7, PCL-5) to monitor clinical progress.
2. Ketamine Therapy Management
• Evaluate patients specifically for Ketamine/Esketamine treatment suitability, including treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and PTSD.
• Conduct Physical Health Clearances to ensure patients are medically fit for ketamine (e.g., reviewing cardiovascular history, blood pressure management, and potential contraindications).
• Develop individualized ketamine dosing protocols and monitor patient responses during or post-administration.
3. Medication Management & Caseload Care
• Maintain an ongoing caseload, providing longitudinal psychiatric care.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications and other necessary pharmaceutical interventions.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (therapists, medical assistants) to ensure holistic patient outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Licensure: Active, unrestricted NP license in [Insert State] and board certification as a PMHNP-BC.
• DEA Certification: Current DEA registration with full prescriptive authority (including Schedule II-V).
