Participate in case reviews, care conferences, quality improvement activities and infection prevention initiatives as applicable
Provide education and clinical support to on‑site staff, residents and families regarding behavioral health, medication effects and strategies for supportive care
Maintain required clinical documentation, comply with regulatory and facility policies, and assist with chart audits and peer review when requested
Qualifications and Required Skills
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nurse Practitioner studies with PMHNP specialty from an accredited program
Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia and current DEA registration where required for prescribing
Certification as a PMHNP and current basic life support (BLS) certification; additional certifications as required by facility policy
Experience in behavioral health, geriatrics, post‑acute care, long‑term care or similar settings preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Electronic Medical Record systems and strong, timely documentation practices
Excellent clinical judgement, therapeutic communication skills and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Culturally sensitive, trauma‑informed approach and commitment to patient‑centered, dignified care

Timely, comprehensive psychiatric assessments and appropriate, person‑centered interventions that support resident and patient safety and wellbeing
Clear, accurate documentation in the EMR and effective communication with facility staff, residents, patients and families
Active participation in and measurable contributions to quality improvement initiatives related to behavioral health outcomes
Strong, collaborative relationships with facility leadership and multidisciplinary teams that promote patient‑centered care
