Correctional/Advanced Practice Nurse Psychiatric/Mental Health

Location: Youngstown, OH 44505

Shift: Flexible daytime hours

Duration: Approximately 3 months (may extend)

Hours: Part-time, hours per week

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) licensed in Ohio to provide on-site mental health care within a correctional facility serving an adult male population. The role includes flexibility in scheduling and does not require night, weekend, or holiday coverage. An in-person interview will be required.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide direct psychiatric and mental health care (in person or via telehealth as needed).

•Conduct comprehensive mental health and psychopharmacological assessments.

•Formulate psychiatric diagnoses and manage psychotropic medications within formulary guidelines.

•Perform evaluations to determine medical necessity for medication treatment.

•Prescribe medications and order/interpret laboratory tests.

•Provide crisis-related assessments and care when required.

•Collaborate with medical and mental health teams to ensure coordinated care.

•Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical encounters in the electronic health record.

•Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.

•Provide clinical consultation to nursing and mental health staff.

•Maintain regular clinical supervision with a collaborating physician.

•Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

•Maintain required clinical competency and licensure.

Minimum Requirements

•Master s degree or higher in an Advanced Practice Nursing specialty.

•Active Ohio APRN license.

•Board Certification (e.g., ANCC for nurses).

•Current BLS/CPR certification (healthcare provider level).

•DEA certification (as required for prescribing).

•Ability to pass facility screening requirements (background check, metal detector, onsite security rules).
