Job Overview
Treat Me Right (TMR) Mental Health Care is seeking a New Jersey-licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and support for holistic approaches to treatment.
This is a hybrid position. The prescriber must be willing and able to work from TMR’s Hackensack office at least two days per week, with remaining scheduled hours provided remotely as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric services to clients in outpatient and other approved clinical settings during scheduled hours.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and provide medication management services.
Assess, diagnose, and treat adults, adolescents, and children experiencing behavioral health disorders.
Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications and treatments in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement, New Jersey’s Nurse Practice Act, and all applicable regulations.
Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other treatment team members to coordinate client care.
Complete medical records accurately and on time, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.
Counsel clients during appointments when clinically appropriate.
Develop and participate in individualized treatment plans that incorporate current standards and leading practices.
Examine clients and order appropriate laboratory or diagnostic tests to obtain information about their physical condition and mental health needs.
Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others regarding a client’s condition and treatment when clinically appropriate and properly authorized.
Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to insurance companies, funders, and other authorized entities as required.
Return calls and emails within 24 hours of receipt, or sooner when clinically necessary.
Make independent clinical decisions based on established protocols and nationally recognized treatment guidelines.
Maintain professional and responsive relationships with clients and TMR staff.
Maintain medical records and submit at least 10% of records to the supervising psychiatrist for biweekly review, in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement.
Record all services accurately and submit billing documentation promptly in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and payer requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve quality and provide education to clinical staff when requested.
Follow all TMR policies and procedures, federal and New Jersey regulations, professional standards, and the Collaborative Practice Agreement.
Participate actively in required agency and departmental education, training, and in-service programs.

Education and Experience
Required education:
Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing with a focus on psychiatric nursing.
Graduation from a state-approved advanced practice program specializing in psychiatric and mental health care.
Required experience:
At least one to two years of direct client-care experience treating individuals with psychiatric disorders.
Ability to provide care to both adult and pediatric populations.
Preferred experience:
Three or more years of experience as a psychiatric provider.
Telemedicine experience.
Licenses and Certifications
Candidates must have:
Current certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
An active, unrestricted license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in New Jersey.
Current board certification.
A valid DEA registration authorizing practice in New Jersey.
All required New Jersey controlled dangerous substance registrations.
Registration with the New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program.
No suspension, exclusion, or debarment from participation in federal healthcare programs, including Medicare and Medicaid.
The ability to maintain all required credentials and licenses with applicable licensing boards and major insurance companies, with support from TMR’s credentialing staff.
Schedule and Work Location
This is a hybrid New Jersey position. The selected prescriber must work in person at TMR’s Hackensack office for a minimum of two days each week. Additional scheduled hours may be completed remotely, based on practice and client needs.
