Mobile Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mobile Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive mental health services to patients in community-based settings. This position offers the opportunity to deliver accessible, patient-centered psychiatric care to individuals who may face barriers to traditional office-based treatment.
Position Overview
As a Mobile Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will travel to patients' homes, community facilities, assisted living centers, and other locations to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with mental health conditions. You will work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments in various community settings. Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications while monitoring for efficacy and side effects. Provide psychotherapy and crisis intervention services as needed. Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards. Coordinate care with primary care providers, social workers, case managers, and community resources. Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with evidence-based practices.
Required Qualifications
Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Current Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification. Active state nursing license and DEA registration. Minimum two years of experience in psychiatric nursing preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with current insurance. Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Proficiency with electronic health records.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with underserved or diverse populations. Bilingual language skills. Knowledge of community mental health resources. Experience with telehealth platforms.
Working Conditions
This position requires extensive travel within the service area. Work may involve visiting patients in various environments including private homes, group homes, and community facilities. Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate patient needs.
