Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in mental health assessment, medication management, and patient-centered care across diverse populations, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. This role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional mental health services. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is preferred. The position offers opportunities to work in various settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, telehealth platforms, and specialized care units such as memory care or behavioral health.
Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans based on patient history, clinical findings, and diagnostic evaluations.
•Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications while monitoring efficacy and side effects.
•Provide psychotherapy interventions and behavioral health counseling tailored to patient needs.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex psychiatric conditions.
•Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
•Participate in clinical research projects related to psychopharmacology or behavioral health advancements.
•Assist in managing acute psychiatric crises, including triage and stabilization procedures.
•Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, medication adherence, and wellness strategies.
•Stay current with developments in psychiatry including new treatment modalities like botulinum toxin treatment or esthetic laser treatments when applicable.
•Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and expand clinical expertise across areas such as hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics, pediatric psychiatry, or substance use disorders.
Experience
•Proven experience as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Psychiatry with a valid license to practice in the state of employment.
•Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
•Experience administering injections, IV infusions, catheterization, tube feeding, or ventilator management is advantageous.
•Background working across various settings including hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), outpatient clinics, inpatient units (PICU or NICU), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments.
•Familiarity with medical terminology related to internal medicine, emergency medicine, infectious disease care, pain management, and case management is preferred.
•Skills in diagnostic evaluation using laboratory experience or medical imaging techniques are beneficial.
•Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing processes is desirable. Pay: $100, $121,221.38 per year
