Providing medication management follow-up visits.
Developing individualized treatment plans based on DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and patient needs.
Diagnosing and treating conditions such as ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, insomnia, behavioral disorders, autism-related behavioral concerns, and other psychiatric conditions.
Monitoring medication efficacy, adherence, adverse effects, and treatment response.
Ordering and reviewing laboratory work when clinically indicated.
Providing psychoeducation to patients and families regarding diagnosis, medications, risks, benefits, and treatment expectations.
Completing risk assessments, including evaluation for suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, self-harm, psychosis, mania, substance use, and safety concerns.
Coordinating higher level of care referrals when clinically necessary.
Documentation and Compliance
Complete accurate, timely, and audit-ready clinical documentation.
Maintain documentation that supports medical necessity, insurance billing, and quality clinical care.
Document informed consent for medication treatment.
Review and document Florida E-FORCSE when prescribing controlled substances.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Florida Board of Nursing regulations, DEA requirements, and company policies.
Use the electronic health record system appropriately for scheduling, charting, prescribing, and communication.
Collaboration and Care Coordination
Therapists and counselors.
ABA providers and behavioral health specialists.
Primary care providers and specialists.
Parents, caregivers, schools, and community supports when appropriate.
Administrative and billing teams to support accurate clinical workflow.
Required Qualifications
Active and unrestricted Florida APRN license.
Current PMHNP-BC certification through ANCC.
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with psychiatric mental health specialization.
Active DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain one.
Ability to prescribe controlled substances in accordance with federal and Florida regulations.
Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and evidence-based psychiatric treatment.
Strong psychiatric medication management skills.
Excellent clinical documentation and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while participating in a collaborative clinical team.
Professional liability/malpractice insurance, or willingness to obtain coverage if required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults.
Experience with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and behavioral disorders.
Experience with telehealth psychiatric care.
Familiarity with AdvancedMD or similar EHR systems.
Interest in integrative psychiatry, wellness support, and collaborative behavioral health care.
Experience working with Medicaid, commercial insurance, and outpatient psychiatric billing requirements.
