The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of Jewish Family Services.
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations through office and telehealth visits, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments.
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, considering patient needs, preferences, and goals, often in collaboration with clinical counseling staff and other healthcare professionals.
* Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects.
* Provide brief psychotherapy and counseling as appropriate.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
* Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal ideation and acute distress.
* Make appropriate referrals to other specialists or support services as needed.
* Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication management.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and policies.
* Participate in case reviews, peer consultations, and professional development activities.
* Review and approve treatment plans of clinical counseling staff.
* Establish and maintain a culture that is recovery oriented, person-centered, and grounded in trauma informed care.
* Provide education to clinical counseling staff on psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
* Engage in evidence-based treatment and remain up to date on emerging best practices through on-going professional development and education.
* Attend agency and department in-service training and staff meetings as well as any other agency related activities as required.
* Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited PMHNP program
* Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
* Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in New York State
* 2-3 years of experience working in an outpatient mental health setting as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
* Experience working with children and adults
* DEA registration for prescription authority
* Experience with medication assisted treatment (MAT) preferred
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
* Exhibited ability to effectively work within an inclusive and culturally and linguistically diverse environment.
* Strong computer skills, especially with electronic medical records, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based health information systems.
* Bilingual skills desirable. English speaking and writing fluency required.

* Will work in the office and in the community; able to travel outside the office to various sites to attend meetings and provide support services.
* Must have access to a reliable vehicle, possess a valid, clean driver’s license and be sufficiently self-insured with liability insurance in the amount of $100/$300k.
* Flexible hours including days and some evenings and/or weekends.
* Physical activities and efforts required working in an office environment.
* Visual acuity sufficient to maintain system of files and reports containing computer-generated and handwritten documents.
* Auditory acuity sufficient to communicate with staff, clients, and others by phone and in person.
* Mobility sufficient to conduct regular duties within a normal office environment and community.
* Competitive salary of $135,000 to $155,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
* 401k retirement plan with agency contribution of 4%.
* 13+ observed holidays annually.
* Early close on Fridays.
*Please note: Normal schedule is 8am-4pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 12pm-8pm Tuesday, and 8am-1pm Friday. Must be willing to expand into other evening hours as requested.
